It’s hard enough deciding what to wear in the morning, never mind trying to pick outfits for your entire Spring Break vacation. And then there’s that losing your luggage thing, which seems to happen more and more these days. So to avoid the stress, here is your guide to packing only ONE bag: your carry on. Never lose your luggage again or look like you’re actually living out of your suitcase.

• You can never have too many bags, and I’m not just talking about purses. The key to traveling is to organize everything into little packages, making things organized and easier to find.

• First pack everything you don’t need on the plane. Put things like shoes at the bottom of your carry on so you don’t have to sift through everything just to get a book you want to read on the flight.

• Pack a little bag of stuff you want to keep with you on the plane: face wipes, hand sanitizer and gum are necessary to keep with you at your seat.

• Go easy on heavy layers. You can wear the same sweater as long as you’re changing the layers closest to your skin frequently. Big layers also take up the most room in your suitcase.

• Every girl needs a LBD. The little black dress is perfect for a trip because you can get away with wearing it at any event. If you want to you can wear it with flip flops to a casual dinner or get heels for a formal night out.

Nothing to wear

• Speaking of shoes, ideally you’ll limit yourself to two pairs. Go for sneakers and a casual pair of heels for ultimate versatility. You can buy cheap flip flops at the airport so if you don’t have room for those, don’t worry about it!

• Versatile tops are your best friend. Pack the shirts in your wardrobe that you can wear to dinner over a skirt one night, and then casually wear over jeans during the day.

Pack only pieces that can be color coordinated with other pieces, that way you can get maximum use out of everything you bring with you.

Make extra room in your suitcase by rolling your clothes instead of folding them. This leaves some room for all the stuff you’re going to buy on your trip.

• Wear your jacket on the plane to save room in your suitcase. This leaves you with more room for stuff you’re going to buy on your trip!

• Scared of trying to wear the same thing twice? Use a little bit of Febreeze on your clothes after you wear them to keep them smelling fresh. If you use this tip, no one will even notice!

  • Great read. Thanks for sharing. I always have a hard time packing. Could never make up my mind regarding what to take and what to leave out, and end up taking a huge bag of things I wouldn’t even use. Will definitely try what you’ve suggested.
