As much as we don’t want to admit it, summer’s almost over and it’s time to think about back to school. Maybe cramming for tests or eyeing that cute boy in gym class is what gets you through the week, but nothing spells fun quite like picking that perfect back to school outfit. This year we have 11 fits and 47 different denim washes to choose from, but instead of hearing it from us, we asked our fave It Girls to share their love for their favorite pair of Garage denim in a feature we call the Denim Squad.
Denim Squad: Q&A with Baylee Reed
Michigan’s Baylee Reed is definitely our fave midwest fashion blogger. She has a style all to her own, influenced by everything from bohemian to grunge, making her someone you need to follow for inspiration. From her Tumblr, The Style Cove, to her Instagram photos, she makes mega babe look easy. Here’s what she had to say about the new Garage Knit High Waist Jeggings, comfort food and hula hooping.
If you could style one celebrity, who would it be?
If I could style one celebrity it would probably be Zella Day. I am all about details when it comes to putting an outfit together and her eclectic image is something I would love to contribute to. I am obsessed with piling on the accessories and paying tribute to a previous era through styling a look.
What’s your favorite Instagram account?
Alexis Jade Kaiser is my go-to for inspiration, whether it is home decor or fashion ideas. She is a total gypsy babe, plus her bohemian Utah apartment is goals! Her photos are always worthy of a double tap.
“The Knit Jeggings are by far the most comfortable pair of pants I have ever worn.”
Describe your style.
My style differs on the daily. A big style icon of mine is Kurt Cobain – some days I wake up feeling super grunge, so I throw on a military jacket, choker and my cherry red Doc Marten boots. Other days I feel like my own version of Zella Day. This look calls for headscarves, rings on every finger and a breezy, bohemian silhouette.
What are you listening to right now?
The Outer Vibe. They are a Grand Rapids native band (my boyfriend is the drummer but don’t think I am partial for this reason) and the group produces a sound that could be classified as a slice of paradise. Living in Michigan, it is often cold and cloudy, not to mention winter lasts about 8 months of the year. I put their record on whenever I am in need of a musical vacation. (Check out Waits for Me, it’s a new Garage fave!)
What’s your comfort food?
Whenever I am feeling it necessary to go into a food coma, mashed potatoes are the way to go.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
A hobby of mine is hula hooping. I’ve always loved to dance but didn’t have any formal training past the dance class I took in the 6th grade. The hoop is somewhat of a prop to express my moves with, and mastering new tricks always feels like a big accomplishment.
What’s your spirit animal?
I cannot deny that my spirit animal is a monkey. I spent my childhood climbing trees and hanging upside down. My dad once challenged me to peel a banana with my toes, challenge accepted! It’s kind of an ongoing joke in my family – my mom bought me a bathrobe with monkeys on it for Christmas.
Why Garage Knit High Waist Jeggings?
The knit jeggings are by far the most comfortable pair of pants I have ever worn. A perfect pair is hard to find, but they are the perfect fit. Everyone needs a staple pair of classic and timeless denim in their wardrobe.
