We’re back with another profile on one of our head office’s most fascinating and creative people! For this month’s Quick Questions series, we sit down with our Visual Planner, Christine R.

What did you want to be when you were little?

When I was younger, I wanted to become a clothing designer. I spent my time drawing models wearing different creations, each one more original than the last. I would create collections, trends, etc. I kept all those sketches in a binder and when I look at it now it really makes me laugh! I’m not sure I’d wear my creations!

What inspired you to become a visual planner?

It’s while working in store that I realized that I could become a Visual Assistant. Organizing and presenting the merchandise in store, dressing the mannequins, setting up the window displays; all of it made it seem like such an interesting job. This field was creative and somehow related to fashion; two things I’m very passionate about. After a few years as Visual Assistant in store, I got the job of Visual Planner at Head Office. Wow! I couldn’t have hoped for better! I was now part of the team that creates the visual directives for Garage stores.

What song describes you best?

I’d have to say Taste of Ink by The Used. Not necessarily because of the words but because this song influenced my musical taste and my personal style over the years. It’s this song in particular that made me discover my love of punk/rock music and also influenced my fashion style.

What music (songs/bands) inspires you most when you work?

I love many different styles of music (all very different from each other!). When I work I listen to Nirvana, Lana Del Rey, Billy Talent, Lorde, The Pretty Reckless, Bring Me the Horizon, Lady Gaga…

Who is the one person who inspires you the most?

I really love Chloe Norgaard; this model who always dyes her hair a thousand different colours. She is super original! I find her unlike any of the other models out there. She seems to be full of life with a great personality and her personal style also inspires me a lot.

If you could wear one pair of shoes for the rest of your life, which would it be and why?

Doc Martens, for sure! I wear them so often and pair them with almost everything. I even wore them at last year’s Christmas party with my girly little black dress for a chic but grunge look.

Describe your job in a color!

Hum …all pastel colours!?! I can’t choose only one! I personally believe that everything is more beautiful with a little touch of pastel. So I’d say that each day at work is a different pastel colour!

What do you think of first when you plan an awesome layout for a Garage store?

We determine the season’s key items, the most important looks, the ones we wish to place in the forefront, etc. I imagine myself as one of today’s teenager and try to recreate a unique shopping environment and experience.

What advice would you give to the 16 year old you?

I would tell her to be relentless in order to make her dreams come true… even if sometimes things don’t go the way we want them to. You have to give yourself permission to dream because anything in life is possible… if you really want it!

If you could be one pair of Garage denim, which would you be and why?

Retro high waist jeggings! They are, without a doubt, the Garage denim I love most. I love wearing them with a cropped graphic tee and a faux-leather jacket for a rocker look.
